The mission of Rambam Day School is to offer a unique opportunity for the Jewish children
of our community. The Rambam students are given an outstanding secular and Judaic education.
Both programs afford our children an extraordinary experience in understanding the role they
play within our heritage and their role within our society.
With which branch of Judaism is Rambam Day School affiliated?
Rambam is not affiliated with any branch of Judaism. Rambam pledges
to be sensitive and non-judgmental, thereby promoting an atmosphere of unity in all areas and among all
Jews.
How will my family fit in with Rambam Day School?
The families that attend Rambam come from all walks of Judaism and the children are friends with each
other with no concern for synagogue affiliation or level of observance. All families from all backgrounds
make up the Rambam family.
How many students are in the school?
We have 137 students, from 2 years through 8th grade.
How will small class sizes affect my child?
We address the social concerns of small class sizes by having smaller classes join other classes for
specialties. Educationally they are receiving a wonderful one-on-one experience. Each child is flourishing
and is very happy.
Why choose Rambam Day School over other private schools in the area?
Rambam's education is well respected among the leading high schools in our city. Our curriculum is challenging
and prepares our students for any high school they may choose. Rambam is unique in that if offers an excellent
Secular education and at the same time educate our Jewish youth about their heritage. These children are the
future of our people and to be a part of that is priceless. They cannot be the Jewish leaders of the future
without a foundation to be dedicated to our people. Statistics prove that educating children Jewishly increases
their involvement as adults within the Jewish community.
Is there after-school care for both half-day and full-day programs?
Daycare for students is available from 12:00 p.m. until 3:35 p.m. Presently the JEA offers an aftercare from
3:35 until 6:00 p.m.
When should we apply to Rambam Day School?
One should apply to Rambam as soon as they wish to come.
How does Rambam Day School divide time spent on Judaic and secular studies?
A child's day is divided as follows: 1st through 4th grade have Secular studies from 8:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Judaic studies are from 12:35 until 3:35 p.m. Kindergarten has secular studies from 8:15 until 11:45 a.m., and
then attends lunch until 12:15 p.m. Kindergarten then has Judaic studies from 12:45 p.m. until 3:35 p.m.
5th through 8th grade begins their Judaic studies from 8:15 a.m. until 11:35 a.m. Lunch is from 11:35 a.m. until
12:00 p.m. Secular classes begin from 12:05 p.m. until 3:35 p.m. Specialties are spread throughout the week and
shared between Judaic and Secular.
What opportunities for enrichment/extra-curricular activities would my child have?
Rambam has its own sport teams - volleyball, basketball and softball. Enrichment is conducted on an individual
basis and determined by the faculty and administration.
What schools do the children attend after eighth grade?
After eighth grade, the most popular local schools of choice are Savannah Country Day School, St. Andrew's, and
Savannah Arts Academy.
Is there financial assistance available?
Financial assistance is available and all scholarships are handled through a select group of individuals whose
names and the names of those applying are kept confidential.
How fluent in Hebrew is the typical Rambam Day School graduate?
Rambam Day School does not teach Hebrew as a language. There is a supplementary program after school for those
children who have an interest. This topic has been reviewed and discussed many times; since the curriculum is
very intense, it is difficult to add another specialty.
